Oi is a New Zealand company led by a team of passionate, holistic women who aim to make big changes. We want to stand up for what’s right and make a difference in the world, by saying No to chemicals, synthetics and toxins and saying YES to natural organic alternatives, to make a better world for everyone. Oi stands for every woman, Oi stands for health and Oi stands for our world.
The world is groaning under the weight of toxins, plastics and chemicals. We only have one earth – there is no Plan B. With all the amazing technology are we really getting better? Health problems continue.
It makes sense to combine great technology with natural pure ingredients.
Oi supplies products for everyday people for everyday use. Each person who chooses Oi makes a difference in their lives and for their communities.
By choosing Oi you are saying “No” to chemicals and toxins, “No” to the use of crude oil plastics, “No” to perfumes, dyes and synthetics in and next to your body. You are saying “No” to environmental pollution and “No” to nondisclosure of ingredients.
By choosing Oi you are saying “Yes” to transparency, honesty and integrity, “Yes” to knowing what ingredients are in your products. You are saying “Yes” to your health, “Yes” to biodegradability, “Yes” to the planet, “Yes” to comfort and protection and organics.
We chose the Certified Organic route with GOTS (Global organic textile standard) and BioGro, New Zealand’s most trusted organic certification authority so you know you are using a product with the highest integrity and total transparency.
Our organic certification standards:
Certified Organic means that the cotton we use to make our products has been grown according to strict standards as verified by independent certification bodies such as GOTS (Global organic textile standard) BioGro and the FDA.
GOTS is based on the IFOAM family of standards for fibers and as such has environmental, technical quality/human toxicity and social criteria which covers issues such as child and indentured labour, safe working conditions, hours of work/rest, discrimination/equal rights and a living wage convention.
These certifications include rigorous farm, field and processing facilities, detailed record keeping and periodic testing of soil and water to ensure that growers and handlers are meeting the set standards.
Organic products contain no chemicals, no harmful preservatives or additives and are GMO free.
What about Fair Trade?
Fair Trade is a certification for products produced in developing countries that do not have industrial labour laws. Our products are manufactured in first world, developed countries (Europe) that have fair labour laws and working conditions. GOTS certification has a social criteria based on the key norms of the International Labor Organization (ILO) must be met by all processors and manufacturers.
What about GMO?
Organic standards prohibit the use of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) so you can rest assured that all our products are 100% GMO free.
Oi products are biodegradable which is better for the environment.
By choosing Oi you have personally contributed to reducing long-term waste and your environmental footprint. Oi boxes are recyclable, and our inks are made from vegetable dyes. Our pads and panty liner wrappers are made from biodegradable bioplastic.
Choosing certified organic cotton removes the risk of direct exposure to residues from chemical pesticides, fertilizers, defoliants and fungicides commonly used on conventionally grown cotton.
Every year, billions of plastic laden menstrual pads and tampons are disposed of which pollutes our fragile ecosystems.
These plastics ends up in our landfills and oceans damaging marine ecology and eventually our food chain.
By choosing Oi, you are saying “biodegradable is not debatable” and saying “Yes” to your world.
